Scaling Lightning Transactions
Bitcoin developers have proposed hierarchical channels to boost Lightning Network (LN) scalability. Lightning may overcome its scalability limitations by off-chain resizing of channels.
Several LN developers shared their thoughts on this splicing mechanism, which allows funds in an off-chain LN channel to be spent on-chain (splice-out) or for on-chain funds to be added to an off-chain channel (splice-in).
